Description

Exotic Natural Peacock Green Quartzite Slabs for Countertops

Green Quartzite Stone is a non-foliated metamorphic rock composed almost entirely of quartz. It forms when a quartz-rich sandstone is altered by the heat, pressure, and chemical activity of metamorphism. Metamorphism recrystallizes the sand grains and the silica cement that binds them together.

In the hotel and villa luxury projects we see, the use of luxury top-grade stone is almost the standard configuration of high-end projects, which has become a decorative trend. Luxury stone is different from common granite and marble. It mainly refers to natural quartz or semi-precious stone, crystal, and agate with special color and texture, such as sapphire, Amazon green, iron red, forest and snow, calacatta white, etc.

Peacock Green Quartzite Slabs can seem more elusive than some of their popular stone counterparts like granite or marble, but this excellent surface material shouldn’t be overlooked!

Is Green Quartzite a Natural Stone?

Yes! Quartzite is a metamorphic rock, which means it started as one kind of stone—in this case, sandstone—and then it changed into a new kind of stone due to prolonged exposure to heat and pressure below the Earth’s surface. Depending on how intense that heat and pressure get, quartzite may exist on a spectrum. Lightly metamorphosed quartzite sometimes retains a “grainy” quality (a feature leftover from its parent rock, sandstone). Crystalline quartzite is less grainy and less porous. You can learn more about how quartzite is formed in our blog post explaining different types of quartzite.

What are the Best Uses of Quartzite Stone?

Owing to its incredible durability and resistance to heat, quartzite is a versatile material that works wonderfully in high-traffic areas like kitchen countertops. Quartzite is suitable for a range of applications, from flooring and walling to fireplace surrounds. The stone also stands up well to the elements and can be used for outdoor applications like patio flooring, pool decks, and stair treads. This makes it possible to create a seamless, flowing look from the inside of your home to the outside.
